What began as a live painting during our 2024 Convocation ceremony has now become a lasting symbol of growth, generosity, and the heart of our Lobo community.

During Convocation, Little Elm High School art teacher Kelly Sutherland created a captivating piece titled “Rooted for Growth” live on stage. Rather than keeping the masterpiece, Mrs. Sutherland donated the artwork to the Little Elm ISD Education Foundation to help raise money for Teacher Innovative Grants at the annual Derby Gala.

The artwork captured the room’s attention—and the heart of one attendee in particular.

Mrs. Kristin Jones became the winning bidder for the one-of-a-kind piece during the gala's auction. But her impact didn't end with the final gavel. After reflecting on the powerful meaning behind the artwork and what it represents for local students, Mrs. Jones graciously chose to donate the painting back to Little Elm ISD.

Thanks to her inspiring gesture, “Rooted for Growth” now has a permanent home at the Zellars Early Childhood Learning Center, where it will inspire and be enjoyed by our youngest Lobos for years to come.

This remarkable journey turns a beautiful work of art into an even more meaningful story of giving back, supporting educators, and believing in growth at every stage of learning. Thank you to Mrs. Sutherland, Mrs. Jones, the Little Elm ISD Education Foundation, and everyone involved in bringing this vision full circle!
